The Thief Came in the Night...
Rachel drew inspirations from classic cartooning to draw and color this episode.

Dancing and Movement
The assignment was to have your character do a dance. The point was to have students figure out the structure of their characters, and how to make convincing movements fluidly. We ask them to create a smooth sequence of gestures, which helps them think linearly, which is great training for communicating and understanding gestures of human interaction.

This exercise asked the students to create a story in the Cinderella or "Rags-to-Riches" mold using only images they copy out manga provided by the teacher. This encourages students to find content in images they can't read ordinarily (manga is all in Japanese.) In addition, we begin to see stories as patterns and begin to recognize classic themes throughout literature. This example is page 1 of a 5 page story and was produced in approximately 20 minutes.

College Level Assignments

Student Work - Historical Figures

Davey Crockett by Nicky B.

Nicky B's story, while vulgar and full of expletives, is fun and the product of research that the student had to do to complete the assignment. He had to organize his research and present it in a linear way.
