I'm putting some of my thumbnails up for this Sunday's Narbonic. The nice-looking ones, not the ones I scribbled all over.

So nice to get caught up on other projects, eh?

I'm thinking about posting some sketches next week from before we knew what we were doing. That might be fun.

When you said Baldy was your favorite, I knew it had to end with him. It all came together, more or less.

I can't believe it's all up. Honestly, I'm wandering around kind of shell-shocked. And finally catching up on Li'l Mell...

Posted by Shaenon @ 01:23 PM EST

And the last panel is Baldy. You made me so happy.

Fen is PERFECT in today's strip. I am intensely happy with him.

Posted by Shaenon @ 07:41 PM EST

Do you think "SHAENON GARRITY IS FUNKMASTER OF TRUNKTOWN!" ruins the last strip?

Nonesense!

But ok.

The interesting thing about this strip for me is how hard it is to draw the characters I drew years and years ago. To date, the weakest characters are still Hutch and Fen. I struggle with them and never get them right. I think I am going to make scuply models or something. Glad you like Fen here, but it was a nightmare to draw.

I'm just delightedly watching these last strips pass by. Today's is particularly good. I love Fen's pose and expression in the last panel - it is perfect, better than I could have imagined.

You should get rid of the writing in the last panel of the last strip.

Last three days Shaenon! Let's hear some chatter out there!

Trunktown Season 1 ends this week!

Is it weird? I'm scared to read it! the ending sends me. I love it. I just wish I learned to draw:

armadillos
vernielle
crowds

Next season...

Posted by Tom @ 06:11 PM EST

It's really a fun story. I wish I didn't have to rush these last few
weeks, and I know there's no way I'll redraw a lot of it. and I hate drawing
crowds!!
---Tom

But the crowd scenes look so good! I like the way today's came out.

Now that it's done, I can look back over the story and see how weird it
is... but I do like it. I think it's pretty good.

I can't believe we're at the end of the story. Never have I needed a tearful musical retrospective as much as I need one now.

Posted by Shaenon @ 12:21 PM EST

Shaenon just got to me the last 4 strips in the series and man they are the BEST YET!

AW MAN I am going to have fun drawing these last 4!

Ok so word up- 6 days to the end of Trunktown! Or maybe 7- I forget. But soon!

Man, the new stuff looks so good! The targets drifting out of the sky... it's perfect! I'm so happy!

Posted by Shaenon @ 01:29 PM EST

I like today's strip. You'd think in all this time I would have learned how to draw the armadillos, however.

This whole endeavor has been a learning experience in the area of patience and practice.

Drawing people holding guns is a pain, and yet I keep making you draw it. I really, really like Frick on the stilts.

Glad the new scripts are okay. As you can see, this comes pretty close to wrapping up the action.

Posted by Shaenon @ 01:15 PM EST

Plus in today's- I changed Faustine's weilding her gun to her raising her hands cause it got too hard drawing her holding that gun every time. I DO like that last panel though.

Posted by Tom @ 11:41 AM EST

You are a genius! That TRUCE panel in next week's strip is so great!

I'm letting my work suffer. The past 2 or 3 have been really weak. I'm letting hands, expressions go by that I should be redrawing.

Yes! Excellent! You made my dialogue 300% funnier. You know, that money stuff is quite cool.

Bah! It's good! As always, a marked improvement on whatever the hell I sent you. I hope the new scripts are okay.

Oy this one blows today too cause I couldnt even work off your script. I can't find it, and Leela was on the computer all night, so I tried to remember the expressions and amount of text, etc. Boy did I fumble it. Hopefully a better one tonight. I barely have time anymore. more scripts!!!

Happy Birthday!

Posted by Tom @ 06:27 PM EST

Okay, my birthday has come and gone, so no more slacking for me. I'll send you scripts tonight.

And thank you for the birthday greeting! I was deeply touched by yesterday's Sunday feature.

Ok everyone! SORRY! Trunktown is going on a sporadic schedule until the end of this run, which will probably be in a few weeks. I lost the daily vibe; I got super busy! So that's the fact, jack.

Anyone want to see what I (Tom) is up to in his other life as a flash illustrator should go to http://www.newmoney.com/main.cfm/learning/about and click on Design Your Owen Bill. This is a flash project I did for the US Treasury.
